In welded tube production at PTC Alliance, high frequency electric resistance welding is the heart of the process,
and superior weld integrity is a matter of course. Production begins with the forming of flat rolled carbon, alloy,
or HSLA steel into a tubular shape, with the edges pressed together. As the tube hollow is passed through the weld head,
electric current is applied to the abutting surfaces. At near-molten temperature, the edges are squeezed together,
creating a homogeneous steel tube. Because no filler material is required, uniform chemistry is assured throughout.
Inside and outside welding flash is removed during the process and all material is 100% ultrasonically tested in the
weld zone.
